Wolak bliżej szczytów

Kolejny sukces Polaka. Paweł Wolak (28 l.) z New Jersey po dynamicznym pojedynku pokonał w sobotę w nowojorskim Madison Square Garden Ishmaila Arvina. Według bokserskich speców, nasz rodak jest coraz bliżej walk o najwyższe bokserskie laury!
Co to był za wieczór! Wypełniona po brzegi sala WaMu Theatre w Madison Square Garden wrzała. Przybyli na galę bokserską nie zawiedli się i długo nie zapomną tej nocy.
Pierwszą walką, która naprawdę rozgrzała publiczność był pojedynek Pawła Wolaka, który stanął w ringu z Ishmailem Arvinem. Choć sala głośno dopingowała obu pięściarzy, wyraźnie wybijało się: Paweł! Paweł!...

Joe Calzaghe defeats Roy Jones Jr.

Almost 15,000 boxing fans, many of them who flew from Wales, gathered in Madison Square Garden to see Joe Calzaghe face former light heavyweight champion, Roy Jones Jr.

For undefeated light heavyweight and super middleweight champion Calzaghe (46-0, 32KO) the first round was similar from the previous fight with Bernard Hopkins. Calzaghe went down after flash punch, which this time turned out to be a wrist punch. Unfortunately for Jones, it was the only opportunity to show his dominance in the fight. Throughout the rest of the fight, Calzaghe showed the best of Jones. He proved that he is faster and stronger than his 39 year old opponent. He continuously pressured Jones, occasionally dropping his hands and inviting him to fight. In total, despite his dancing in the ring, Calzaghe landed more than twice as many punches as the native of Pensacola, Florida. In the seventh round Jones was cut over the left eye and all he could to was to defend himself until the end of the fight.

Calzaghe, who's 36, could easily retire on the top. But why? There are still growing stars, like Chad Dawson, whom Calzaghe could fight. What are his plans? We'll find out soon enough.

Albert Sosnowski KOs Danny Williams

For Danny Williams it was supposed to be a warm-up fight before scheduled bout against Frans Botha of South Africa. Instead, it could be the end of career for the 35-year old British Champion. In the beginning of the eight round with double left hook Sosnowski knocked down Williams. He recovered, but after Polish boxer's repetitive attacks referee Richard James Davies stopped the fight. For William's it was his 6th defeat and for Sosnowski 44th win and 27th by KO.
